Assertive Communication

Assertiveness skills will help you achieve the perfect balance between being “pushy” and a “push-over”.  These skills help you to interact more effectively and improve your comfort level with others in a variety of stress-related situations - at home, at work, with new acquaintances, with authority figures and difficult people.

Participants will learn:

  • The difference between assertive, passive and aggressive behavior
  • How to present their ideas with self-confidence and authority
  • To resolve conflict situations without hostility
  • To take the initiative
  • How to be responsive to the needs of others without compromising your own
  • To communicate directly and honestly
  • To confront difficult situations head-on
  • When and how to say “no” and mean it
  • To stand up to put downs
  • How to accept and give constructive criticism
  • How to handle pressure tactics
  • How to deal with anger – your own and other’s
  • To negotiate workable compromises
